Beltane 2017

Beltane 2017 – Open The Doors celebrates the sabbat of Beltane – when we dance, laugh, love and take joy in the Beltane energies of this time of year. At this time of fertility, growth and union of the Goddess and God we dance the maypole, weaving the energies of the masculine and feminine together.

The event is centered around a set of games with a mythic inspiration, leading into a Beltane ritual, with plenty of opportunities for socialising and workshops throughout the day and evening.

Dates

Saturday 14th October 2017, from 10.00am till 11.00pm.

Venue

Beltane is held at a venue that is situated on 30 hectares of beautiful bushland in the Northern suburbs of Sydney.

The event will be held at Baden Powell Scount Centre, Pomona St, Pennant Hills NSW 2120.

Cost

The Markets, Games and rituals are all **Free**

Transport options

The venue is easily accessible by vehicle and is only 1km from a train station. There is plenty of off street parking available.

Market

There will be a market to start the event on Saturday. We ask that all stall holders donate an item to a raffle that will be held at lunch on Sunday. If you would like to have a stall, please contact Mark at mark@gsevents.org.au

Catering

The event is fully catered from Saturday Morning through to Breakfast on Sunday for those that stay the night. Catering will have choices for vegetarians. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know on your registration form.

Workshops

All workshops are included in the registration fee. There will be a number of workshops held over the day including:

  • Prop and garland making in preparation for the main ritual
  • Maypole dancing practice
  • Bellydancing

Ritual and the May King and Queen

The focus of the weekend is around the main ritual on the Saturday afternoon / evening to celebrate the sabbat of Beltane, and to crown our May King and Queen.

The May King and Queen will be determined through a series of fun challenges that will take place during the day prior to the ritual.

Children

Children are very welcome at the event and participate in the challenges but only those over 18 can be chosen to be King or Queen.

Accommodation

The venue has cabins and dorm room accommodation. Cabin spaces are limited and families with children will be given first preference for cabins. When allocating accommodation we will try to ensure that you are in the same area as with others listed on your registration form. If you have any specific preferences please list this on your registration form and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Volunteers

As you may imagine, it takes a lot of work to put on a gathering of this nature and so we could always use your help. If you would like to offer your skills for something specific or make yourself available over the course of the weekend you can contact us via our Facebook group, email or approach one of the organisers during the gathering. We will gratefully give you something useful to do.
